Canada 150 Activities and other Lanark Highlands Events
Lanark & District Civitan Club is organizing the Lanark Village — Santa Claus Parade
The date this year is Saturday Dec 9th and the theme this year will be Canada 150.
For those not familiar with the process – the parade is assembled in the Lanark & District Civitan Club parking lot between 11 am and 1 pm (some floats arrive ready to go and others are built onsite) and then is dispatched sharply at 1 pm by the parade marshal.
The parade proceeds along CR 12 to George Street and up George Street to Maple Grove Public School. Typically takes 45 minutes.
Santa then goes into the Maple Grove gym and visits with interested children for typically 45-60 minutes.
Some floats just head home and others go back to the Civitan to disassemble.
In a cold year there will be more people in the parade than watching it – in a nice weather year you can get some large crowds along the full length of the parade route.
There is no cost to participate and no registration is required.
Certificates for the Best Theme Float, Best Commercial Float and Best Non-Commercial Float are awarded and acknowledged in The Lanark Era.
